Food security crisis requires stronger international cooperation

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman on Wednesday participated via a video link in the Ministerial Mediterranean Dialogue on the Food Security Crisis. The event was organized by Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio, German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Svenja Schulze, Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib, and Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Vahit Kirişçi.
 
The summit was envisioned as a forum for an exchange of views of the Mediterranean countries and relevant international organizations on the effects of food insecurity caused by the war in Ukraine.
 
Addressing the event, Grlić Radman underscored the need for cooperation among international partners in order to respond effectively to food crisis. He added that Croatia would support measures facilitating the export of agricultural products from Ukraine, highlighting the potential of Croatian ports.
 
The summit was supported via expert contributions by specialised UN agencies and organizations – the WFP, FAO and IFAD.
