FM Pejčinović Burić officially visits India

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Marija Pejčinović Burić officially visited the Republic of India

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Marija Pejčinović Burić officially visited the Republic of India.

During the visit, Pejčinović Burić held talks with her Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj. The two officials underlined good bilateral relations, in particular the economic, cultural, scientific and technical cooperation, agreeing there was a lot of potential for further growth. They exchanged views on the current regional, European and global issues.

Pejčinović Burić and Swaraj signed an agreement on remunerated activities of members of diplomatic missions or consular offices and their family members, as well as a cultural cooperation programme for the 2019-2022 period.

The Croatian foreign minister also met with Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan. They discussed bilateral relations, economic and cultural cooperation, as well as strengthening cooperation between the two countries’ parliaments.

During her stay in India, Pejčinović Burić also visited the University of New Delhi, where she met with Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Tyagi and delivered an address to the students at the Department of Slavic and Finno-Ugric Languages, which includes a Croatian language lectorate. This year marks the 20th anniversary of Croatian language studies at the University of New Delhi.
