The United Nations Day marks the anniversary of the entry into force in 1945 of the UN Charter. The anniversary is also a chance to voice support for this global organization dedicated to preserving world peace and security.

This year Croatia celebrates 26 years of UN membership, during which it has achieved a number of prominent results and participated in numerous prestigious bodies, such as the Security Council, ECOSOC and PBC.

Furthermore, this is Croatia’s second year of membership of the Human Rights Council, one of the UN’s most important bodies promoting democratic values, respect for human rights and fundamental human freedoms. The upcoming obligations, efforts and candidacies within the UN system further prove Croatia’s growing engagement in this organization, especially now when the rising global challenges can only be dealt with jointly, through multilateral mechanisms.
