Permanent Representative of the Republic of Croatia to the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) Ambassador Igor Pokaz presented the former Permanent Representative of the Republic of Hungary to NATO, Ambassador Zoltan Martinusz with the Order of Prince Branimir with Ribbon, awarded by the President of the Republic of Croatia Stjepan Mesic for his special merits in promoting the international position and reputation of the Republic of Croatia and its relations with other states.

Ambassador Martinusz served as Permanent Representative of Hungary to NATO from April 2005 to April 2009, during which time the Republic of Croatia was intensely pursuing its path to full membership in NATO and succeeded in achieving its goal.
Presenting the award, Ambassador Pokaz said that the dedicated efforts of Ambassador Martinusz are the best example of good cooperation between two countries. Recalling that Hungary was the country of contact in Croatia's accession to NATO, Ambassador Pokaz stressed that the political support of the neighbouring country and its assistance through transfer of experience and expertise gained additional strength through the personal contribution of Ambassador Martinusz.
Ambassador Martinusz, who is currently serving as Director of the West Balkan Directorate at the Council of EU, accepted the decoration by the President of the Republic of Croatia with great pleasure and thanked for the honor bestowed upon him. He underlined the friendly and close relationship between Croatia and Hungary, which also guided him as personal principles in his cooperation with the Croatian side. He also said that he considers the award to be the confirmation of success of the joint efforts of all of his co-workers, and the result of cooperation with the Croatian colleagues.
