The First Croatian-Australian business video conference in Melbourne

As an initiative of Ambassador Kušen, and organized jointly by the MFA and the Consulate General in Melbourne, the first business video conference between Australia and Croatia was held on 15 May 2014. As a part of activities aimed at strengthening economic cooperation between Croatia and Australia, the first business video-conference was organised and hosted by the Office of the Deputy Minister and Mrs. Ana šimundža as the coordinator, and attended by the leadership of the Economic Division of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs in Zagreb, representatives of key institutions responsible for economic cooperation and attracting foreign investments in Croatia. They provided a presentation on the legal framework for investment in Croatia, benefits and tax concessions as well as public-private partnerships. A presentation of the possible use of European funds was held by Mr Damir Novinic, Director General of the Agency for Investments and Competitiveness, by the representatives of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, the Agency for Public Private Partnership, Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds, and Croatian exporters. The conference was attended by the Australian Ambassador to Croatia, Ms Susan Cox, who welcomed the initiative and expressed readiness of personal engagement in strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries. At the Consulate General in Melbourne, other than Ambassador Kušen and Consul Mrs. Ida Paulin-Dutkovic, the video conference brought together twenty business participants, mainly representatives of Australian companies, of which the greater part are of Croatian origin. They have all expressed interest in strengthening business cooperation with Croatia and about the conditions of investments, tax policy, establishing of a company, and doing business.
