Director-General for Political Affairs of the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Dr Petar Mihatov, visited Canberra from 30 November to 2 December 2022 for the purpose of holding Senior Officials' Talks (SOT) with counterparts from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Commonwealth of Australia. Alongside the host, Mr Chris Canann, First Assistant Secretary for Europe, SOT's included participation from other relevant DFAT Divisions namely: International Security, Multilateral Policy, East Asia, Pacific and Melanesia, as well as the EU-FTA Chief Negotiator Alison Burrows. A variety of topics were discussed from bilateral engagement to global strategic and security environment, with particular focus on the Indo-Pacific and Europe.
Dr Mihatov's visit also included a number of meetings with senior Australian officials from the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, the Department of Parliamentary Services, the Department of Home Affairs and The Treasury.
Following the SOT's Dr Mihatov attended the screening of award-winning Croatian film „Murina“, organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Canberra in cooperation with the ANU Film Group.
