H.E. BETTY BERNARDICA PAVELICH PRESENTS LETTER OF CREDENCE TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF FIJI H.E. RATU WILIAME MAIVALILI KATONIVERE

Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to Australia and New Zealand H.E. Betty Bernardica Pavelich presented Letter of Credence to the President of the Republic of Fiji H.E. Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere at a ceremony in the capital Suva on 31 January 2022. The occasion of the first ambassadorial appointment (non-resident) by the Republic of Croatia to the Republic of Fiji since the establishment of diplomatic relations on 14 July 1997, marks a new step in relations between Croatia and Fiji.
Following the credentials presentation, Ambassador Pavelich met with the highest officials of the Fijian Government, including the Acting Prime Minister, Ministers in charge of a number of sectors – defence, national security and police; commerce, trade, tourism and transport; education, heritage and arts, as well as with the permanent Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister and for Foreign Affairs, Assistant Minister for Youth and Sport and the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces. Calls on Fiji officials were focused on the potential for advancing bilateral relations. The visit has received attention by local media, and was also an opportunity for a meeting with colleagues from the diplomatic corps, as well as with the beneficiaries of the EU-funded project of a women's clinic. Ambassador Pavelich also visited the EU Delegation for the Pacific led by H.E. Sujiro Seam, thus acknowledging regular and excellent mutual cooperation.
