Admission to the Croatian-Australian academic community

On May 27, on the occasion of the admittance of professor Ivan Marusic for a membership of the Australian Academy of Science, a special reception for the academic community of Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne was organised at the Croatian Embassy in Canberra. In his welcome speech Ambassador Kušen congratulated Dr Marušic, professor of physics at the University of Melbourne, for his highly distinguished and successful scientific career. He said that there are five scientists of Croatian origin who are members of the prestigious Australian Academy of Science, which is a remarkable achievement and an example of excellence for the Croatian academic community living in Australia. Ambassador Kušen invited the academic community for stronger networking and strengthening academic cooperation between Croatia and Australia. He said that the Embassy should also serve as an innovation center or a hub bringing together experts in the fields of science, research, and new technologies. It was jointly agreed that linking scientific networks with the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, could additionally encourage the cooperation between Croatia and Australia.
