From 28 to 30 August, 2011, Ambassador Ante Simonić visited the Croatian delegation which participated at the Shenzhen Universiade 2011. Croatia was represented by 17 athletes who competed in athletics, gymnastics, sailing, judo, archery, shooting, taekwondo and tennis. Sailor Daniel Mihelić won the gold medal in the Laser Standard category.
The central celebration marking the twentieth anniversary of the Croatian National Day and Armed Forces Day, organized by the Croatian Embassy in Beijing, the Office of Military Attaché at the Embassy in Beijing and with the support of the Croatian MOFA Independent Service for Croats Abroad and Culture was held on 16 June, 2011, in the atrium built in the typical Chinese traditional style and art gallery Guocuiyuan National Treasure Park.
On June 15, 2011. China Radio International’s Croatian Service celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of the first broadcast in Croatian language and the third anniversary of the founding of Croatian Language Broadcast Service. With the support of the Embassy of Croatia in Beijing and the Independent Service for Croats Abroad and Culture of the Croatian MOFA, a women's choir Luka from the Croatian port of Rijeka, gave a concert.
At the banqueting hall of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries,on 14 of June, 2011, a concert was held by the famous women's choir from Rijeka. The event was organized by the Embassy in Beijing and with the support of the Department of Culture of the Independent Service for Croats Abroad and Culture, dedicated to marking the twentieth anniversary of National Day and Croatian Armed Forces Day.
On 10 June, 2011 at the Art gallery of the Guocuiyuan National Treasure Park, the Embassy of Croatia organized a press conference for the representatives of China's media, China Daily, monthly magazines LOOKWE, The World and China, Diplomat, Women of China and Xingguang and the China Radio International, presenting activities marking the twentieth anniversary of National Day and Armed Forces Day of the Republic of Croatia.

Ambassador Ante Simonić received fourteen members of the Student Folklore Ensemble Ivan Goran Kovačić from Zagreb on 27th May, 2011, at the Embassy of Croatia in Beijing. The Ensemble visited China from 24 to 30 May at the invitation of the Association of the Chinese of Croatia and the Croatian-Chinese Friendship Society from the city of Dalian and participated at the 22nd Acacia flower festival held in Dalian at a ceremony called the Croatian Day.
Former President of the Republic of Croatia, Mr. Stjepan Mesic paid a visit to China from 14 to 19 April 2011. Mr. Mesić participated in the 10th Asian Boao Economic Forum in the city of Shenzen, visited the largest Chinese telecommunications company Huawei and opened in the city of Yangzhou a memorial museum of Marco Polo. On the last day of stay in the People's Republic of China, Mr. Mesic gave a lecture in Beijing Chinese People's Institute of International Relations.
On 11 May, 2011, Ante Simonic, Croatian Ambassador, gave a lecture on Croatian culture, history, economy and current relations between Croatia and China for the students at the Department for the Croatian Language of the European Studies Faculty of Beijing University for Foreign Studies.
On 31 March, 2011, Ambassador Ante Simonić gave a lecture on Croatia and on the political, economic and cultural relations between Croatia and China, in front of the students and professors of the Centre for Central and Eastern European Studies (CEES) of the Faculty of International Relations at Peking University.
At the 16th Francophonie Film Festival in China which took place in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Dalian and other Chinese cities during March, 2011, Croatia was represented by 3D animation film Morana directed by Simon Bogojević Narath.
