On March 26th 2010, the Croatian-Swedish Chamber of Commerce was founded in Gothenburg for the purposes of strengthening the development of the two countries' economic relations.
The Croatian-Swedish Chamber of Commerce was founded at the initiative of several Croatian-descent Swedish businessmen and supported by the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia to the Kingdom of Sweden. Robert Jukic, the founder of Göteborg's CBN Company, was elected as its president.
The meeting pointed out the need for this initiative to harmonize the discrepancy between the two countries' import and export, primarily through Sweden's investments in Croatia and partnership in the economy sectors of interest to both countries. To that end, the Croatian-Swedish Chamber of Commerce will stimulate contacts between business subjects and offer its members and all the interested companies business information about potential partners.
The founding of the Chamber was accompanied by a presentation about the possibilities and needs of the Croatian economy. More detailed presentations were held by representatives of the Trade and Investment Promotion Agency, the Croatian Chamber of Economy and several business associations from the cluster of small shipbuilding, interior design and tourism.
The initiative was supported by Croatian Ambassador to Sweden Vladimir Matek, Head of the Investment Promotion Directorate at the Ministry of Economy Sanja Rendic-Miocevic and on behalf of the Swedish Foreign Trade Minister by Michaela Wilhelmsson from the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In cooperation with the Swedish partners, seminars are to be held in Croatia about the peculiarities of doing business on the Swedish market designed for the potential Croatian exporters.
