Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Dublin organized on Monday, May 27th 2024, in the premises of the Dublin Royal Convention Center, a formal reception on the occasion of the celebration of the Statehood Day of the Republic of Croatia. The reception was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, Irish state and economic institutions, representatives of the Croatian community and the Croatian Catholic Mission, and the guest of honour was a member of the Parliament of Ireland, Senator Malcolm Byrne.

Ambassador Davor Vidiš greeted the guests and highlighted the progress that Croatia has made since its independence until today, as a member of the EU - entry into the Schengen area and the Eurozone, membership in NATO, and a series of successes in the fields of culture and sports. He recalled the excellent relations between Croatia and Ireland, which continue to develop through political meetings at the highest levels, such as the visit of Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković to Ireland in September of last year, as well as the growing dynamics of tourist traffic. Additionally, Ambassador Vidiš referred to the era of Croatian independence and the Homeland War, expressing solidarity with Ukraine, which is currently fighting for its independence due to Russian aggression.

Senator Byrne also highlighted the great success of Croatia, which, still as the youngest member of the EU, is exploiting its full potential and building economic growth. He pointed out that Ireland supports Croatia's foreign policy goal of further EU enlargement, especially the acquisition of BiH's EU membership and further stabilization of the region. He complimented the exceptional natural beauties of Croatia, which he had the opportunity to visit privately, and emphasized his strong beliefs in the further development of friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries.
