The River Nore Music Academy from Kilkenny marked the World Day for Cultural Diversity and two years of activity

On Sunday, June 2, 2024, in Kilkenny, the River Nore Music Academy organized children's concert to celebrate the World Day for Cultural Diversity and the second year of its activity.
The River Nore Music Academy was founded in 2022 by Mrs. Lilian Giber Opačak, who is the head of the school and chief music educator. The school currently has around 120 students of various ages and nationalities, including Croatian. They offer lessons in solfeggio, piano, guitar, singing, percussion and flute, and they also run a pre-instrumental music program designed for the youngest ages, children aged 4-6. At the concert, the children demonstrated excellent musical knowledge by performing pieces of classical music on the piano and violin, as well as modern pop songs. In addition to solo performances, the band of the music school, consisting of seven children, also performed, and to the delight of the audience, they ended the concert with a cover of the ultimate hit song "Zombie" by the band Cranberries.
Mrs. Giber Opačak is one of the teachers of Music Generation, an organization founded by singer Bono Vox that provides music education throughout Ireland. In addition, the River Nore Music Academy collaborates with the world-famous company Yamaha, and is the only Yamaha centre of excellence in Ireland.
The plans for the future of the River Nora Music Academy are to continue to encourage children in Kilkenny to create music, and a cooperation project with music schools from the Republic of Croatia is planned with the aim of connecting Croatian and Irish culture through music.
