Commemoration for the Great FamineOn Sunday, 13th May 2012, the National Commemoration for the Great Famine of the mid-19th century victims was held in Drogheda, County Louth. In addition to the representatives of the Irish Government and the Oireachtas, the Commemoration ceremony, during which the Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, held a speech, was attended by the representatives of the political leadership of Northern Ireland, local community representatives, as well as Ambassadors and representatives of more than thirty countries accredited to Ireland. Europe Day, May 9th 2012.To celebrate Europe Day, The European Commission Representation in Ireland and the European Parliament Office in Ireland organised ‘'Afternoon Tea with Europe'' on Wednesday, May 9th 2012. This event also marked the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations 2012. The event took place at the European Union House, 18 Dawson Street, Dublin 2 with the participation of the Embassies of all EU member states and Croatia as an acceding country.
