LEGALIZATION OF DOCUMENTS:
In order to use a British document in Croatia public documents issued by the British authorities - e.g. Certified Copy of an Entry of a Birth, Marriage and Death, as well as the power of attorney need to be legalized at the Legalization Office with an Apostille stamp - paper version  (for more information please visit: https://www.gov.uk/get-document-legalised ) and translated into Croatian by an official interpreter in the UK (a list of Croatian interpreters in the UK is available at the Consular Section of this web site) or by a certified court interpreter in Croatia.
In order to use Croatian documents in the UK the documents Embassy has information that legalisation of the documents with Apostille stamp is generally not required. However, since the procedure may differ by different authorities, in case when legalisation is required an Apostille stamp in Croatia is issued by the Municipal Court according to the place where the institution which issued the document has its seat.
General information on the legalization of documents is available at: https://mvep.gov.hr/en/consular-information/legalization-of-documents/
PROCESS OF FULL LEGALIZATION
Public documents issued by Nigeria/Ghana/Gambia/Sierra Leone/Liberia need to be fully legalized in order for them to be used in Croatia.
Process of the full legalization procedure implies that the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in London (or elsewhere where Croatia and Nigeria/Ghana/Gambia/Sierra Leone/Liberia have their Embassies) certifies the stamp and signature of person authorized to legalize documents from Nigeria/Ghana/Gambia/Sierra Leone/Liberia High Commission in London only if it has the specimens, after which the foreign document can be used in Croatia. This is due to the fact that Nigeria/Ghana/Gambia/Sierra Leone/Liberia are not a signatory to the Hague Convention on the Elimination of the Need for Full Legalization of Foreign Public Documents.
The Croatian Embassy in London can only cetrfy the stamp of the Nigeria/Ghana/Gambia/Sierra Leone/Liberia High Commission in London (which follows after public document has the appropriate stamp of the Nigeria/Ghana/Gambia/Sierra Leone/Liberia Foreign Service).
Croatian Embassy in London can only certify the stamps from above mentioned representatives of the countries if it has their stored specimens of the stamp and signatures (which have to be identical to the stamps and signatures on the presented original document). Therefore, after one has acquired all necessary stamps from the country where the documents were issued they have to organize a person who will obtain notarization stamp and signature from the Nigeria/Ghana/Gambia/Sierra Leone/Liberia High Commission. In addition, it is necessary to organize a person who will deliver in person the original document to Croatian Embassy in London after notarization at the Nigeria/Ghana/Gambia/Sierra Leone/Liberia High Commission in London and pay a FEE:13,13 GBP to the Croatian Embassy in London by card only.
In order to submit your application at Croatian Embassy in London, one has to request appointment through https://konzularniportal.mvep.hr/?lang=en. The Embassy does not accept applications for full legalization by post.
The Embassy reserves the right to request additional documents while conducting legally binding proceedings related to each request submitted.
The same procedure applies if one decides to seek full legalization of the Nigeria/Ghana/Gambia/Sierra Leone/Liberia document in another country where Croatia and Nigeria/Ghana/Gambia/Sierra Leone/Liberia have their own Embassy.
