The Croatian government welcomes the transfer of power in Iraq

The Croatian government welcomes the transfer of power in Iraq, where two days ago, 28 June 2004, the US-led Coalition transferred the sovereignty to an interim Iraqi government

The Croatian government considers this a historical turning point for Iraq, and hopes that it will facilitate the strengthening of security and stability in the country. As Croatia did not have diplomatic relations with the dictatorship regime of Saddam Hussein after the transfer of sovereignty from the Coalition to the Iraqi government, the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs hopes to begin with the setting up of diplomatic relations with the new government.
