The "Central European Summer Ball"
In the presence of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Walter Schwimmer, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Croatia with the Council of Europe, Ambassador Neven Madey, has signed today, on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, the European Convention on Ceding Criminal Proceedings.
The Convention enables one state to request from another to institute proceedings on its behalf against a suspect. The Republic of Croatia has ratified nine and signed five legal instruments of the Council of Europe in 2003, strengthening the legal system of Croatia in accordance with the EU standards.
The importance of the Convention lies in facilitating the criminal
proceedings at the implementation level, and in more effective fight
against transnational organised crime and corruption.
