On the margins of the EU summit in Salonika (Porto Carras), the Croatian President Stjepan Mesić, and Foreign Minister Tonino Picula, talked with the Slovenian Prime Minister Anton Rop, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dimitrije Rupel, at the initiative of the Slovenian side.

On this occasion, the situation created after the information on the alleged statement of the Slovenian Prime Minister during his visit to Germany, that Slovenia conditions the entry of the Republic of Croatia in the EU by the termination of the succession procedure, was clarified.

The Slovenian Prime Minister denied this information in the media, and then once again in the talks with President Mesić and Foreign Minister Picula, and emphasised the unquestionable support of Slovenia to Croatia’s joining the EU.

Prime Minister Rop emphasised that the entry of Croatia in the EU is also in the interest of Slovenia and that on every occasion of international meetings and talks, he calls for the entry of Croatia in the EU.
