State Secretary Željko Kuprešak met with Director of Political Directorate for Europe at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation Christian Meuwly

The meeting focused on Croatia's accession to full membership in the EU. State Secretary Kuprešak pointed out that the Croatian goal is to conclude the accession negotiations in 2009 and went on to add that Croatia is aware that 2008 is the crucial year for fulfilling the necessary criteria and undertaking the necessary reforms.

After discussing common bilateral relations, the parties exchanged viewpoints on the current situation in Southeast Europe. Director of Political Directorate for Europe Meuwly was interested in Croatia's standpoints regarding the Schengen regime, after which he talked about the Swiss experience in this field.

State Secretary Kuprešak and Director Meuwly concluded the meeting with a confirmation of friendly relations of the Republic of Croatia and the Swiss Confederation, with a perspective for further development.
