State Secretary Matković received Korean Deputy Foreign Minister Lee Yong-Joon

State Secretary for Political Affairs at the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Bianca Matković received on Friday, 6 June 2008, in Zagreb, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Korea Lee Yong-Joon

Both sides expressed satisfaction with good bilateral relations with no open issues. Talks were based on further strengthening of bilateral relations between Croatia and Korea, and the two sides agreed there were potentials on both sides. State Secretary Matković pointed to the fact that due to fully built economic system and well-developed infrastructure Croatia had become a desirable business partner. In this regard she presented several cooperation initiatives for Croatian and Korean businessmen in various domains from information technology and automobile industry to the fact that due to her geostrategic position Croatia could be an important factor for Korea's traffic connection with other EU countries.

Deputy Minister Yong-Joon informed State Secretary Matković about the interest of Korean businessmen in investing in the zone of Luka Rijeka and the cooperation in shipbuilding. He also invited Croatian businessmen to organize Croatian week in Korea aimed at strengthening economic relations.

State Secretary Matković also informed Deputy Minister Yong-Joon about Croatia’s past achievements in the processes of accessing Euro-Atlantic integrations, whereby he expressed hope that Croatia’s joining the EU and NATO would further improve her political and economic relations with the Republic of Korea.
