State Secretary Matković met with NATO team
State Secretary for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and the head of delegation in negotiations on Croatia's access to the NATO Bianca Matković met on Friday, 6 June 2008, in Zagreb, with representatives of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council - NATO team paying a several-day visit to Croatia, within schedule preparations for reforms implementation as a part of Croatia's NATO accession process.
State Secretary Matković informed members of the NATO team on past achievements, and the course of planned reforms and initiatives Croatia would undertake to become NATO member as soon as possible. She emphasized planned activities in the area of the reform of judiciary, fight against corruption, the return of refugees and property return. Noting that Croatia's foreign political activities were systematically contributing to establishing peace and stability in the region, State Secretary Matković assessed relations with all neighboring countries as being very good. She also informed members of the NATO team about the course of Croatia's access to the EU and the reforms Croatia was undertaking in this regard.
Members of the NATO team expressed their satisfaction with the reforms implemented so-far, and with the presented document of further reforms schedule, important for Croatia's access to the NATO. The date of signing the protocol on Croatia's access to the NATO, to be held on July 9 in Brussels, was also confirmed. Emphasizing the importance of the regional approach, members of the NATO team agreed that Croatia had become stability factor in the region.
