State Secretary Biščević received to inaugural visit Canadian Ambassador Thomas Marr

State Secretary for Political Affairs Hido Biščević received on 16 February 2007 to inaugural visit the Canadian Ambassador to the Republic of Croatia, Thomas Marr

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the high level of the relations between Croatia and Canada, an the good co-operation in the multilateral field, pointing out the need for a further intensification and enhancements of the economic co-operation. Both sides welcomed the planned and realised high-level visits, which will surely contribute to the further enhancement of mutual relations.

As regards the bilateral relations between the two countries, State Secretary Biščević reiterated Croatia’s interest for the re-evaluation of the Canadian visa regime as for the Croatian citizens and welcomed in that regard the working visit by the Canadian interdepartmental delegation to Croatia announced for March this year.

State Secretary Biščević took the opportunity to familiarise Ambassador Marr with the course of the reforms Croatia is conducting and the progress it has made in acceding to the EU, as well as with the current political situation in South East Europe.

Ambassador Marr stated that Canada supports Croatia on its road towards full EU and NATO membership.
