State Secretary Biščević received SMN Ambassador Simurdić
State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Hido Biščević received today, 3 March 2005, Ambassador of Serbia and Montenegro Milan Simurdić. Ambassador Simurdić
Ambassador also said that SMN continues to support Croatia’s accession to the EU, as well as the start of the negotiations, pursuant to the European Commission’s decision. He also pointed out that some of the media incorrectly interpreted some of the statements by SMN officials on the whole affair.
Biščević and Simurdić agreed that it is in both countries’ interest to continue solving all open issues and build good neighbourly relations in the spirit of the Thessaloniki process. In that regard, they pointed out the importance of last years’ visit by Croatia’s Prime Minister Ivo Sanader to Belgrade, and the return visit by Serbia’s Prime Minister Vojislav Koštunica to Zagreb, as well as the importance of the recently signed Agreement on the Protection of Minority Rights and the co-operation in other fields, especially justice and humanitarian issues.
