Press Release of the Croatian MFAEI on the occasion of the passing of the Anti-secession Law in the All China National Assembly

On the occasion of the passing of the Anti-secession Law in the All China National Assembly on 14 March 2005, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Croatia states that since the establishment of diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China in 1992, the Republic of Croatia has been adhering to a single-China policy, based on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the People's Republic of Chiina

The Republic of Croatia has been supporting and will continue to support the policy of a single China, implying peaceful integration based on the one-state-two-system model already successfully implemented in the cases of Hong Kong and Macao. The Republic of Croatia vews the issue of Taiwan as an internal political issue of the People's Republic of China with important international aspects, considering that the solution should be sought in the interest of stability and security in Asia and the Pacific Region as well as in the interest of relations between major powers.

The Republic of Croatia supports negotiations as the sole means of achieving national reunification. The Republic of Croatia considers the decision of the All China National Assembly to reflect the overall policy of the People's Republic of China towards Taiwan with peaceful solution as a priority.
