Political consultations Croatia-Belarus

Deputy Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Joško Klisović 15 May held political consultations with Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister Alena Kupchyna

Deputy Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Joško Klisović 15 May held political consultations with Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister Alena Kupchyna.

The topics included bilateral relations and the prospect of their advancement in the political context of the EU-Belarus relations. The Croatian side shared the experiences from the transition process and EU membership talks. The two officials also discussed the possibility of cooperation within the Eastern Partnership.

The Belarusian side expressed its views on the development of relations with the EU and its member states, notably the prospect of cooperation within the Eastern Partnership.

In light of the existing, poorly-developed trade relations, both sides strongly advocated widening the scope of economic cooperation as the best way to “get to know each other” and strengthen all other forms of bilateral cooperation.

The two officials also exchanged views on the crisis in Ukraine, expressing concern over the situation in the country and hopeful that the upcoming presidential election would help de-escalate the crisis.
