The government 15 May adopted a Strategy on Croatia’s Participation in International Missions and Operations, which represents a political framework as well as goals, guidelines and priorities of international cooperation on global security and participation in international missions and operations. The strategy also reviews Croatia’s relations with key international organizations of special importance for Croatia’s security, such as the UN, EU, NATO, OSCE and the Council of Europe.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić said that the goal of the strategy was to “coordinate the decisions on Croatia’s participation in international missions and operations with Croatia’s foreign policy, economic and other objectives, as well as to coordinate our participation in the military segment of peacekeeping missions with our participation in civil projects, including projects of development and humanitarian assistance.”
The strategy falls under the auspices of the Commission for International Missions and Operations. The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs coordinated the interdepartmental working groups, which included representatives of the Office of the President, Office of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Finance, and the General Staff of the Armed Forces.
