Minister Jandroković delivered a speech in which he pointed out the importance of the position of women and their contribution to peace and security. He said that Croatia actively contributed to the realization of the goals of Resolution 1325, which primarily calls for women’s participation in decision making and peace processes, as well as for the overall protection of women, education, and gender equality in the building and preservation of peace.

Talking about the steps that Croatia is taking to include gender perspective in its security policy, the minister mentioned the National Strategy for the Promotion of Gender Equality, which among other things aims at intensifying the participation of women in the international peacekeeping missions. The women’s presence in that segment is crucial, primarily in regard to their contribution to the development of civil society, as well as assistance in solving domestic violence, delinquency of minors, and similar areas.

During its membership in the Security Council, Croatia has taken active part in numerous debates regarding Resolution 1325, and is also a member of the Friends of 1325, a group of countries supporting the 10th anniversary of the Resolution through concrete results and its implementation.
