On Friday, 5 July 2003, began the Open Door Day in embassies, cultural institutes, German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the EU Representation Office in Berlin, organised for three years now under the auspices of the Mayor of Berlin as an invitation to Berliners to an imaginary trip around the world.

At the ceremonious opening of the event at the new Deutsche Telecom, the biggest sponsor, Günter Piening, responsible for integration processes at the Berlin Senate, particularly stressed the value of transparency and dialogue intensified by such opening of embassies precisely at a time when contemporary, open communication in politics and diplomacy is gaining special importance.

In its area, Croatian embassy arranged three exhibitions this year, beside the presentation of tourist materials, catalogues and books and small presents distributed by Podravka and Kraš. One exhibition features Jochen Senger, a respectable painter from Berlin, who in 1979 visited Milna on the island of Hvar where he made drawings of the typical Mediterranean landscape. The second exhibition featured the young Croatian painter Tatjana Ravli? on her postgraduate study in the Berlin, who made five big paintings at the invitation of the Embassy. The third exhibition features attractive posters of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb. Exhibitions will be open until 18 July 2003.
