Minister Picula received in a farewell visit Dr. Paul Widmer, the Ambassador of Switzerland...

On 8 July 2003, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, Tonino Picula, received in a farewell visit the Ambassador of Switzerland, Dr. Paul Widmer, who is leaving after 4 years for his new new diplomatic post in Jordan.

Expressing his gratitute to the Swiss ambassador for his personal contribution to the strengthening of bilateral cooperation, Minister Picula particularly stressed the exceptional contribution of the Swiss Government in financing the humanitarian projects in the area of Knin, and economic development programmes in eastern Slavonia, as well as financial support in mine-clearing. For the mine-cleasring project between 1996 and 2002 Switzerland donated CHF 1.1 mil. CHF (approximately 5,5 mil kuna).

Swiss ambassador Dr.Widmer thanked for the good cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and welcomed the development of democracy and Croatia's efforts in approaching Euro-Atlantic integration processes. He stressed our good bilateral relations which could be developed in tourism as well as the investment in the Croatian economy, as confiermed at the mneeting of the MixedCommittee fir ecoinoimic sooperation by the end of the passed month.
