Croatian Foreign Minister Miomir Žužul met today, 22 April 2004, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Zagreb, with the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Slovakian Parliament, Jan Figel, who is on an official visit to Croatia
Žužul and Figel expressed their satisfaction with the exceptionally good bilateral relations with no open issues between Croatia and Slovakia. Jan Figel, who was the main Slovakia’s negotiator for joining the EU and has recently been appointed candidate for the member of the European Commission, informed minister Žužul about Slovakia’s experiences in accession negotiations. Figel congratulated Croatia on getting the positive Opinion from the European Commission and repeated Slovakia’s readiness to share its experiences and help Croatia realise its foreign policy goals – joining the EU and NATO. Minister Žužul thanked for the support, pointing out that Slovakia’s experiences will be extremely interesting and useful for Croatia and adding that Croatia expects the European Commission’s Decision on Croatia’s candidate status in June 2004.
