Croatian Foreign Minister Miomir Žužul met today at the German Foreign Ministry in Berlin with German Foreign Minister and Vice-Chancellor Joschka Fischer. Minister Fischer said that Germany will continue to offer its full support to Croatia on its way to joining the EU and NATO
Minister Žužul said that Croatia’s meeting of the Copenhagen criteria sends a message to other countries in the region that this is the only way to approach the Euro-Atlantic associations. The two foreign ministers talked about the situation in the region and the Croatia’s role within that context. Bilateral relations were also a topic of the talks. The two ministers agreed that Croatia and Germany have high quality relations, which is a confirmation of longstanding friendship and full co-operation with no open issues. Minister Žužul invited Vice-Chancellor and Foreign Minister Fischer to visit Croatia, which he gladly accepted. Minister Fischer will probably visit Croatia during the first half of this year.
Before meeting with the German Foreign Minister, Minister Žužul, together with State Secretary Gordan Bakota and Croatian Ambassador to Germany Vesna Cvjetković Kurelec, had a working meeting at the Croatian Embassy in Berlin with the heads of Croatian consular offices to the Federal Republic of Germany. The meeting discussed the activities of the Croatian consulates and their more efficient performance.
The visit to Berlin marked the end of the Croatian delegation’s, led by Minister Žužul, diplomatic tour, during which they visited Ireland, Great Britain and the Federal Republic of Germany.
