First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Vesna Pusić met in Santiago with Igor Lukšić, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Montenegro

First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Vesna Pusić met in Santiago with Igor Lukšić, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Montenegro.

Pusić confirmed that her Montenegrin counterpart would visit Zagreb late February, when they would discuss practical issues concerning Croatia’s EU accession and cross-border cooperation. “We also talked about cooperation pursuant to the Agreement on Euro-Atlantic cooperation that we had signed last year and according to which Croatia and Montenegro share a number of projects pertaining to our common future as members of the EU and NATO, which in our part of Europe guarantees long-term institutional stability, and that is in both of our countries’ direct interest,” said Pusić.

The two ministers talked about Croatia’s experiences from the EU accession process. Montenegro wants to get better prepared for the negotiations with the EU and solve the issue of cross-border transport following Croatia’s EU entry, said Lukšić.

Pusić and Lukšić also discussed bilateral cooperation, namely the bilateral agreements that could be signed during the Montenegrin minister’s visit to Zagreb.
