SANTIAGO, Jan 28 (Hina) - A summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States and the European Union ended in Santiago on Sunday with a call for better cooperation and strategic partnership.

The summit was also attended by Prime Minister Zoran Milanović, while First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Ministers Vesna Pusić participated in the ministerial part of the summit and held a series of bilateral talks with her counterparts. Milanović and Pusić also met with Croatian expatriates at Estadio Croata.

“The summit has given us a new energy and a new impetus to our strategic partnership,” said President of the European Council Herman van Rompuy at the summit’s end.

In the Final Declaration, which was adopted unanimously, representatives of 60 odd countries concluded a “new strategic partnership” that should result in fewer trade barriers and an increase in trade between the EU and the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
