Minister Grlić Radman meets with Jordanian counterpart Al-Safadi
The two ministers discussed the situation in the Middle East following the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel on 7 October. They underlined the imperative of protecting civilians, delivering humanitarian aid to the population of the Gaza Strip, and preventing terrorism and the spillover of the conflict to the wider region. They also stressed the need for the unconditional release of kidnapped and detained persons.
Grlić Radman said that Croatia appreciated Jordan’s long-standing involvement in initiatives aimed at stabilizing the Middle East, including the Peace Day Effort initiative. He and Al-Safadi agreed on the need to revive the political process for the establishment of lasting peace based on a two-state solution. Jordan’s role as a guardian of Christian and Muslim holy sites in Jerusalem was commended.
The Croatian foreign minister informed his Jordanian counterpart about the Croatian government’s decision to send €250,000 in emergency humanitarian aid to the population of the Gaza Strip.
The talks were an opportunity for additional development of bilateral relations on the political and economic level. Grlić Radman’s visit is taking place in the atmosphere of a mini-summit of high-level officials from the U.S., Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Palestinian representatives in Amman.
