Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman on 11 December 2020 in Budapest chaired the 94th session of the Danube Commission in the capacity of its chairman

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman on 11 December 2020 in Budapest chaired the 94th session of the Danube Commission in the capacity of its chairman.

The minister reflected on the activities of the Commission in the last year and underlined its importance in seeking new guidelines for the development of the navigation along the Danube River and intensifying cooperation in EU programmes and projects. The participants exchanged views on the current projects and adopted the activity plan for 2021.

Grlić Radman had been chairing the Commission since June 2017. At today’s session, the Commission elected the new leadership that will take office on 1 January 2021. The three-year chairmanship of the Commission will be assumed by Ukrainian Ambassador to Hungary, Liuba Nepop, while high representatives of Serbia and Hungary are taking over the duties of vice-chair and secretary from Moldova and Austria.

The Danube Commission is one of the oldest international organizations in Europe as well as the multilateral bearer of the ideas and activities of the 11 countries of the Danube Basin in the development of river economy, notably the navigation regime and waterways infrastructure.
