Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman participated on Monday in an informal videoconference of EU and Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) foreign ministers.

Addressing the conference, Grlić Radman said that the COVID-19 pandemic had highlighted the extent to which the world is connected, underlining that international cooperation and solidarity were the key to overcome the crisis. He recalled that the Croatian EU presidency had activated the ICPR, aimed at coordinating cooperation, border control and economic activities.

“The post-pandemic recovery period should serve as a platform for the strengthening of cooperation between our regions,” the minister said, adding that the EU had shown its commitment to LAC through Team Europe.

“The recent global uptick in the number of COVID-19 cases,” Grlić Radman continued, “requires of us to be ready for bilateral and multilateral cooperation.” On the multilateral level, Croatia has contributed to the fight against COVID-19 by actively coordinating the UN’s Comprehensive and Coordinated Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic as well as by financial donations to the UN and WHO fund.

Conclusively, the underscored Croatia’s long history of public health, adding that the Croatian citizens would have to right to receive free vaccine.
