Minister Grlić Radman attends 59th Munich Security Conference
The minister spoke about the importance of the Initiative in the context of Europe’s strategic positioning amidst the supply chair disruption and food and energy crisis. “Russia’s unprovoked and unjustifiable aggression against Ukraine has highlighted the timeliness of our efforts to strengthen the resilience of Europe’s southeast,” he added.
Grlić Radman underscored that Croatia’s Adriatic ports could serve as alternative importing/exporting ports for Europe’s needs.
“In terms of energy, Croatia is pleased to announce that we will more than double the annual capacity of the Krk LNG Terminal. This is of great importance for the North-South Gas Corridor connecting the LNG terminals in Krk and Świnoujście,” the minister said. Concluding his address, he reflected on the situation in Ukraine and spoke about the role the Initiative could play in the post-war reconstruction of that country.
“Aside from political support, the Three Seas Initiative member states – thanks to their proximity to Ukraine as well as their experience in setting up and modernizing infrastructural ties – can play a constructive part in rebuilding Ukraine. The Initiative need a strategy for an efficient integration of Ukraine in terms of infrastructure and post-war reconstruction,” said Grlić Radman.
On the margins of MSC, the minister held a series of bilateral talks, including those with the foreign ministers of Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Kosovo, as well as with NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană, RCC Secretary General Majlinda Bregu, and WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus.
