Minister Grabar-Kitarović visited OSCE Field Office Sisak

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović visited on 12 March 2007 the OSCE Field Office Sisak, along with Ambassador and Head of OSCE Mission to Croatia Jorge Fuentes and Spanish Ambassador and representative of current OSCE presiding country Manuel Salazar

The visit was organised as a continuation of the successful co-operation between the Croatian Government and the OSCE Mission in fulfilling the obligations encompassed by the Mission’s mandate, taking place within the ministerial Platform. The purpose of the visit was to get closely acquainted with the Mission’s field activities, in this case in the Sisak region, as well as the rest of the activities concerning the accommodation of the returnees and the implementation of the Croatian Government’s decisions regarding the returnee accommodation.

Minister Grabar-Kitarović thanked Ambassador Fuentes and Head of the Sisak Field Office Peter Korbel for the detailed presentation of the Field Office’s activities and pointed out the successful activities of the OSCE field offices so far. The minister pointed out that The Croatian Government has invested substantial financial means and energy in the return programs and plans to intensify its efforts both on the national and local level. However, the completion of the accommodation program requires more time and substantial finances, added the Minister.

During her stay in Sisak, Minister Grabar-Kitarović, accompanied by ambassadors Fuentes and Salazar, visited five returnee families, listened to their plight and expressed hope that all families would soon be accommodated.
