Minister Gordan Jandroković received Canadian Ambassador Thomas Marr

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Gordan Jandroković received on 31 January 2008 Canadian Ambassador to the Republic of Croatia Thomas Marr

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the strengthening of the Croatian-Canadian relations and a wish for the continuation of good co-operation on the international level, namely in the joint efforts to stabilise Afghanistan trough ISAF.

Ambassador Marr informed Minister Jandroković about the report by the Independent Panel of Canada’s Future Role in Afghanistan, whose purpose is to advise the Canadian Parliament on the future of the mission after the mandate’s end in February 2009. Ambassador Marr also expressed a strong support for Croatia in its NATO accession.

Minister Jandroković familiarised Ambassador Marr with Croatia’s foreign policy priorities and activities in the coming period, as well as its interest in and contribution to the stabilisation of the relations in the region. Minister Jandroković also took the opportunity to once again point out the outstanding issue of Canada’s visa policy towards the Croatian citizens (an additional application form), inappropriate for the two countries’ otherwise very friendly relations.
