Press release regarding article in Jutarnji List entitled “MFA to fire 500 employees”

Regarding the article published in Jutarnji List on 30 January 2008 entitled “MFA to fire 500 employees”, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration is unpleasantly surprised with the publishing of such unconfirmed and unfounded statements, stating that the Ministry is to dismiss nearly 500 of its employees in a “personnel purge”

During the working meeting with members of the press held on 29 January 2008, none of the present parties from the Ministry mentioned dismissals, only a better organisation aimed at improving the Ministry’s efficiency and meeting the challenges of joining the Euro-Atlantic integration. The meeting also discussed the major guidelines of Croatia’s foreign policy, as well as this year’s priorities, but not once did it mention the statements published by Jutarnji List.
