The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs condemns in the strongest terms a Facebook post by Trieste councillor Lorenzo Giorgi, showing a map of Italy with annexed Istria, Kvarner and Dalmatia.

Such irredentist blunders by a local politician, member of the Forza Italia party, do not contribute to the strengthening of our countries’ neighbourly relations.

We harshly condemn any attempt at historical revisionism and territorial pretensions, regardless of the level they are coming from, and we expect the same of all the political parties of an EU member state.
