Letter by Croatian ambassador to the U. S. Neven Jurica

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has received today, 26 January 2005, a letter by Croatian ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the U. S. Neven Jurica, which we repeat in full

Regarding the articles which have been appearing in media for the past few days concerning my alleged appointment to the post of foreign minister, I find myself obligated to publicly dismiss such speculations and say that I am not a candidate for the position of the Croatian foreign minister.

The post of Croatian ambassador to the U. S., which I have been filling for a little more than six months, is extremely demanding and I wish to respond to it the best way possible.

The reason for my visit to Croatia is an invitation by the state leadership concerning the consultations on further strengthening the bilateral relations between Croatia and the U. S., concurrent with the visit to Croatia by a high delegation from the U. S. Department of Defense.

Neven Jurica
Croatian Ambassador to the U. S.
