Foreign and European Affairs Minister Gordan Grlić Radman 13 January 2020 attended a swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected president and members of the European Commission at the European Court of Justice.

The Commissioners pledged to respect the EU treaties and to be completely independent in carrying out their duties during their mandate in the general interest of the EU.

They also swore neither to seek nor to take instructions from any institution, body, office or entity, to refrain from any action incompatible with their duties or the performance of their tasks, and to respect their obligations both during and after their term of office.

As the EU presiding country, Croatia attended the swearing-in ceremony, traditionally held at the ECJ during the first months of the new European Commission’s mandate.
