FM attends concert marking start of Croatia’s EU presidency

Foreign and European Affairs Minister Gordan Grlić Radman 15 January 2020, on the anniversary of Croatia’s international recognition and the peaceful reintegration of its Danube River Region, attended a concert at the Bozar Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels, held to mark the start of Croatia’s Council of the EU presidency.

Grlić Radman said that the slogan of Croatia’s EU presidency – A Strong Europe in a Challenging World – underscores that the values we share, goals we strive for, as well as knowing that united we are stronger and readier to deal with the challenges of today, is what makes Europe strong.

“Croatia will present itself through a varied cultural programme as well. Our best artist will showcase their talents and creativity all over Europe via carefully selected programmes across the artistic board, representing the best of modern European production and a rich heritage. The programme entails some 160 events in Croatia as well as 30-odd events in Brussels and around 300 events abroad, in the EU and beyond, in cooperation with Croatia’s embassies and consulates. At the same time, Rijeka will be the 2020 European Capital of Culture,” said Grlić Radman.

The concert featured of the most well-known and versatile countertenor of today, Max Emanuel Cenčić, world-renowned operatic mezzosoprano Renata Pokupić, the Croatian Baroque Ensemble and Vocal Ensemble “Antiphonus”.
