Esteban Antonio Skarmeta, distinguished Chilean writer of Croatian descent, awarded Croatian citizenship

Esteban Antonio Skarmeta, born November 7, 1940 in Antofagasta, is the author of numerous novels and short stories, many of which have been translated to Croatian. He is the recipient of numerous literary awards, both at home and abroad, while his novella Ardiente Paciencia was made into Il Postino, a 1994 movie which received an Oscar for the best original score. The Republic of Croatia awarded him the Medal with the Picture of Marko Marulić.
