The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Croatia is pleased with the adoption of the resolution 1483 on Iraq of the UN Security Council.

This resolution opens the path to successful renovation of Iraq in terms of policy and economy thereby creating conditions for lasting stability in the country that will have positive influence on the Near East region at large.

Croatia is notably encouraged by the unity achieved within the Security Council on the voting of the resolution 1483, as well as by the role of the United Nations in the post-war period in Iraq. The agreement in the Security Council is a sign of the strengthening of transatlantic cooperation as one of the key factors in European and global stability.

Within its possibilities, and in cooperation with American and European partners, the Croatian Government intends to give its contribution to the normalisation of situation, the revival of democratic structures and renovation of Iraq, and to offer humanitarian and other assistance to the friendly Iraqi people.
