The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Croatia welcomes the Communication of the European Commission on Western Balkans and the European Integration, adopted on 21 May 2003.
This document represents a positive contribution of the European Commission to the preparations of the European Union for the Summit with the states included in the Stabilisation and Association Process to be held in Thessaloniki on 21 June this year.
The Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expects that the Council of the European Union will accept and additionally enhance suggestions for the enrichment of the Stabilisation and Association Process by cooperation instruments and mechanism inspired by the experience of the European Union in preaccession process.
The participation in Euro-Atlantic partnership, twinning, TAIEX, gradual inclusion in the programmes of the Community, the strengthening of cooperation in the field of justice and internal affairs, and joint foreign and security policy will assist the Republic of Croatia in implementing as fast as possible the reforms and in fulfilling conditions related to the application for membership in the European Union.
The Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Croatia will continue with active participation in political and expert consultations on the Summit in Thessaloniki with the Troika of the European Union and other states of the Stabilisation and Association Process.
