Assistant Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Batistić Kos attended IDAHO Conference, an international conference on LGBT rights, held 16 and 17 May in The Hague on the occasion of the International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia

Assistant Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Batistić Kos attended IDAHO Conference, an international conference on LGBT rights, held 16 and 17 May in The Hague on the occasion of the International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia.

As part of the conference, an informal ministerial meeting was held on intergovernmental cooperation to improve the position and rights of LGBT persons in Europe and beyond. In attendance were ministers and officials from the Netherlands, Malta, Austria, Finland, Belgium, Denmark, Luxembourg, Great Britain, Sweden, France, Ireland and Croatia that participated in the IDAHO Conference. The ministers underlined the need for improving the status of LGBT rights and recalled the European Union’s leading role in that area.

Croatia expressed its firm commitment to the strengthening of LGBT rights and stressed the efforts the government is putting forth to prevent violence against sexual minorities, underscoring the need for a tighter cooperation between government and the civil society.
