Today in Doha, Croatian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Egypt Ivica Tomić has presented his credentials to Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, as a Non-residential Ambassador in Cairo.

Tomić conveyed Croatian President Stjepan Mesić's greetings and wishes to Qatari Emir for the prosperity of the State of Qatar and its people. Qatari Emir returned the greetings and invited the Croatian President to visit Qatar.

Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani expressed his interest in opening the respective embassies in Zagreb and Doha. Qatari Emir commended the expertness and capability of the Croatian companies and expressed his wish for them to take part in the reconstruction of Qatar.

During his visit to Qatar, Tomić met with a group of Croatian citizens working in Qatar and spoke with them about the security measures regarding the war in Iraq. Tomić also spoke with the Bosnian ambassador to Qatar about providing consular assistance to Croatian citizens in crisis situations.
