Yesterday, Mr. Drago Kraljević, Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to Italy, met with Mr. Paolo Scarpa Bonazza Buora, Under-secretary of the Italian Ministry for Agricultural and Forestry Policy. In very warm and friendly talks, they exchanged their views and information on the decision of the Croatian Parliament to extend the Croatian jurisdiction at the Adriatic Sea, within the preparations for the Ministerial Conference on Viable Fishing to be held next month in Venice.

They agreed to continue they talks within the Joint Expert Group for Fishery, with a view to strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries in field of fishery. Only by taking full responsibility for preserving resources at the Adriatic Sea, both at bilateral and multilateral level, will the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Italy provide prospects for their fishermen.

At the end of the talks, it was agreed that the Italian Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry will put the so called “Croatian case” ad acta regarding the extension of jurisdiction at the Adriatic Sea. By this, Italy has once again expressed its strong support to the Republic of Croatia on its path to Euro-Atlantic integration, as well as understanding for achieving national interests of our country which are not directed against neighbours, nor do they collide with the interests of the European Union wishing to achieve ecological protection of the Mediterranean.
