Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Gordan Jandroković met on Saturday, 9 July 2011, on the sidelines of the Croatia Summit in Dubrovnik, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia Urmas Paet

Minister Jandroković thanked minister Paet and the Republic of Estonia for the continuous support during the negotiations between the Republic of Croatia and the European Union, in particular in their final stage

Minister Jandroković thanked minister Paet and the Republic of Estonia for the continuous support during the negotiations between the Republic of Croatia and the European Union, in particular in their final stage. He expressed his belief that Croatia will sign the Accession Treaty by the end of the year. He also added that during the upcoming months strong focus will be placed on the implementation of the communication strategy developed for the purposes of preparation for the referendum on Croatia's membership in the EU. He recalled that according to the latest polls over 60% of Croatian citizens support the accession of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union.

Minister Paet congratulated the Croatian Government on successfully completed negotiations with the European Union and the numerous reforms which contributed to this goal. He said that Estonia is willing to help Croatia in all issues related to membership in the EU, and offered the assistance of Estonian experts.

The ministers agreed that the successful conclusion of Croatian accession negotiations gives a positive signal to all countries of South East Europe in implementing the reforms necessary for accession to full membership of the European Union.

The meeting also touched on forms of joint cooperation between Croatia and Estonia within NATO.
